シロキサンとは？ケイ素の化合物であり、下水消化ガス中にはシャンプーや化粧品を由来とする微量のシロキサンが混入しています。このシロキサンがガスエンジン内部に混入した場合、燃焼により結晶化（酸化ケイ素）しエンジン内部に堆積することで燃焼トラブル等を引き起こします。
本シロキサン除去装置はこのシロキサンを活性炭で吸着することにより除去するものであり、ガスエンジンが安定的に運転を継続する為に必要な機器です。
